In Memory Of Blondell Perkins (née Lasley)
Mom was everything you would expect a mother to be. She was kind, stern, generous, loving, protective, strong, and always, always there whenever you needed her. She sacraficed so much of her own wants and needs for her children. She loved us more than anything in this world, and we loved her right back! She was beautiful inside and out - it's funny because she was very vain about her appearance, but never liked taking pictures!

Mom was an angel on earth. She helped so many people in their time of need, always offering whatever she had to make someonelse whole. She took in other children when their families needed healing, even with seven children of her own. I believe that each of us at some point in our childhood, had a friend who needed some place to stay for a short time until their home lives became better; Mom never refused us, she might say a few choice words (ha,ha) but the final answer was always "okay, just for a couple of weeks." Her loving spirit could never turn anyone away.

Mom instilled in us the importance of treating everyone with respect, no matter who they were or how they were living. She would say "treat everyone with respect, and if you come across someone in need, find a way to help because there are angels all around testing your heart; you never know when or where you will be tested." I can recall time when she and I were walking down the street and came across a homeless person who asked for money. Mom reached into her purse and produced some change for the old lady then we walked away. Seconds (and I mean SECONDS) later I turned to look back and the lady was gone! I said to mom "where did she go that fast??" Mom just smiled and said "maybe she was an angel...see, we did the right thing."

You are so beautiful to me. I miss your spirit and you love so much. It still hurts so much when I think about calling you. There is so much I need from you still. I love and miss you so much mother.

What a beautiful lady. I still have my mom, but can't imagine life without her. I know that it has only been a few short months since you lost her, but just know that your mom has the hope of a resurrection to life on a paradise earth. (Acts 25:15 Just remember the good times and stay close to family to help you cope with your loss. Sincerely,

We said goodbye to Michael Jackson today and my heart ached like he was a member of our family. Wow - what an impact this man made on the world. His memorial was so beautiful and fitting for for the King he was. I know there are a lot of people who don't understand how the world can grieve so for someone we only watched from afar, but Michaeal was so much bigger than that. He had a heart of gold, and proved it in his record breaking charitable work. Every person should strive to give a fraction ... » read more

Hi Mom, I just want to say that I love Heather and Caitlin so much that I think I'm over protective. I just hate that you are gone because we relied on you so much for insight and guidance. Even though we are all grown and on our own, the comfort of having you there to keep us focused was a comfort. We miss you more than you know...I know I will be fine, but I really miss talking to you.

Tell Chris I got his message last night. I took my car this morning and everything is fine for now. Thank you for looking out for me! I love and miss you both terribly.

When a loved one dies, the pain, the grief, and the feelings of helplessness can seem unbearable. At such times, we need to go to God’s Word for comfort. The Bible calls death an enemy. None of us can outrun it or fight it off. Most of us have seen this enemy claim the lives of people dear to us. But God is far more powerful than death. He is the loving Rescuer who has already shown that he can defeat this enemy. And he promises to destroy this enemy, death, once and for all. The Bible teache... » read more

I remember when I begged you to let me spend the night over a friends house, but you kept saying no because you didn't know her parents. But you finally said yes. When I got there, the place was soooo dirty that I called you and said I wanted to come home - but you said I had to stay because wanted to go soooo bad (ha, ha, ha.) You really taught me a lesson that night. But being the loving mother you are, you didn't make me stay in that filth, but called for me to come home...we got a good laugh... » read more

14 Aug 2009 - Cynthia wrote in journal:
I miss you mom. Today I was asked to tell a group of co-workers something about myself I was a little proud of but not a lot of people knew about. I chose to share my Native American heritage - what little I know about it. I wish I had known more about Daddy Ray; I wish I had met him at least once; I wish I knew his struggles and accomplishments. I remember when he died and Steph went to the funeral in your absense because you were pregnant with Chris. I remember how I wanted to go too, but I wa...   » read more ...

I miss you more today than I did yesterday. I still cry mom; I have learned to manage my sorrow, but I still miss you so much. Life is so different without you, not just for me but for all of us. I remember how friends of mne would talk about how they felt when they lost their moms and simply could not relate! I thought you would always be here. I used to say, "I don't know what I would do without my mom, I talkd to her everyday." I still want to call you on the phone, mom. Just the other day ...   » read more ...

Mom, I know you are having a great day where you are. You are there with Chris, Grandma Nancy and Grandma Rosie. The selfish part of me wishes you were here with us, but I know you are here in spirit. Stephanie called me Friday night to tell me that latest news with her.....I know you had something to do with it! She and I talked and prayed, and I know that everything is going to work out just the way it is supposed to. Change is very difficult sometime, but we must do what we must do for those...   » read more ...
