Dad,
You touched so many lives!
If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever!
I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new
I thought about you yesterday and days before that too,
I think of you in silence I often speak your name
All I have are memories and your picture in a frame
Your memory is my keepsake with which I'll never part
God has you in His keeping I have you in my heart.
A memorial service for Howard is being held Tuesday March 31 at 1 p.m. at
Central Christian Church
933 N. Lindsay
Mesa, Az 85213
The family requests that donations be made in Howard's honor to the American Kidney Foundation, Central Christian Church Funeral Ministry, or Banner Hospice in lieu of flowers. |

3 May 2009 – from Irene
Thank you for the last 42 years, & the 3 beautiful daughters. You would be even more proud of them now than before, if that's possible.I really wanted you to stay with us, but you were to tired to go on. It's almost unbearable to know we'll never hear you voice again. Happy Anniversary, I'd do it all over again with you.

I WORKED FOR HOWIE ABOUT 8 YEARS AGO. THATS ALSO WHEN I MET IRENE. HOWIE WAS PROBABLY THE BEST BOSS I EVER HAD. TOOK EVERYTHING WITH A GRAIN OF SALT..AND ALWAYS HAD A SMILE ON HIS FACE,EVEN WHEN WE KNEW HE WASN'T FEELING WELL. HOWIE WAS A COOL CAT. I'M PROUD TO HAVE KNOWN HIM. GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU HOWIE..UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.

Uncle Howie was one of my favorite uncles. He always made me laugh. When I heard the news of his passing I recalled his face and smile. I'm sure grandma is happy to have her Howie with her.

31 Mar 2009 – from Clay Cameron
Howie,
Thank you for the good times and the many opportunities that you provided for me to grow as a man, a father, and a husband. Not all son in laws have such a good relationship. You accepted me into your family from day one and I learned that family is most important. Through your actions you taught all of us to be hard working, but to enjoy life along the way. You would point out our shortcomings and than move on.... letting us find our own way. You were always there when we needed yo...

Sorry that I didn't post an entry yesterday. Yesterday was the memorial. It was beautiful. I think dad would have liked it. In fact, I think we all believe he was there laughing over ( and possibly coordinating) the misbehavior of little Abigail. Thank you to all who were able to attend and to those who weren't able to be with us physically. We know that you were thinking of dad and us yesterday, too. We love you!
I went back to work today. It was good to be able to work on some of ...

Today was a good day. My sisters & their families and mom all came over for dinner tonight. We had roast and "snotty" macaroni (pasta with lots of cheese) with carrots. It was one of dad's favorites. I don't quite do as good of a job with it as mom does, though. It was a bit salty. Which might have been good in retrospect as it made us all a little thirsty. So we sat around the dining room table enjoying drinks while we told stories about dad and "played puzzle". Dad also enjoyed jigsaw p...

Sunday afternoon. Just home from church. It's still hard to believe that Dad is gone from our presence. It was good to get back to the normalcy of church service and hanging out with the kids that I lead in Sunday school. It was fun leading worship songs with the band today. Remember the song "Blind Man in the Bleachers"? That's how I felt today. It was the first time that Dad heard me sing.
