Lupe Santiago was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a caring and loving individual who always put others before herself. She loved children and fought for their safety and well being. She saved lives. She loved to laugh and make people laugh. She loved playing jokes and kidding around. She returned to heaven to continue her role here on earth: an angel.
GOING HOME Small and frail with a knowing smile she said I'm going home. Don't weep, don't wail, don't mourn for me You see, I'm going home.
Of course I know you'll miss me.. If I weren't so tired, I'd stay But you see, my Lord has called me He came to light my way.
I'm going home my dear ones Someday you'll understand I really must be going He's here to take my hand.
Be kind to one another Love each and everyday Remember me, your mother, And take the time to pray.
I'm going home today.
A letter to my family
I wanted to write a letter to you sent down from up above And let you know how things are and Send to you my love
I am happy now all pain is gone and loneliness is no more Family and friends were waiting for me When I passed through the door
They rejoiced when they saw me We walked hand in hand Down streets made of pure gold
I know you will miss me And your heart will ache But ties are not broken And memories don’t break
Remember this isn’t the end You still have each other Stay strong in the Lord And we’ll be together again
A family we are and always will be No matter if it is one or three When you get together give each other a kiss and tell them it is from me. Love, Mother
We took our vows together Said, "Till death do us part", But when God came and took your hand My whole world fell apart. No one knows the heartache I try so hard to hide, Only God knows how many times I've broken down and cried. When I look back upon our lives One of the things that makes me glad, That you chose me to share with you The precious years we had.

I miss this woman so much!! It's not unbelievable how AMAZING she was, the MOST GLAMOROUS woman i've ever met... I miss sitting in the kitchen (always after 11 pm) watching her make 1 of 3 things, hot chocolate, mint tea or my FAVORITE Sleepytime tea! Then just sitting there talking about nothing and everything. Then we'd go to bed and talk some more, she'd always let me lay my head on her arm. When i was little I used to smell her armpits, lol, i don't know why, or she'd let me brush her hair, ...

I remeber going there in the summers, my best memories! When i would always sleep with her and law on her arm talk for hours and then get out of bed around midnight and sit in the kitchen and help her either make hot chocolate, sleepy time or mint tea with honey and lemon... going back in the room and smell her armpits... lol... i don't know why but they always smelled so good and fresh.. lol she would talk to me about everything and nothing... and scare me with the story of the rail road killer...

11 Nov 2009 – from Kali
One of my favorite memories about mom was the things we would talk about at night before bed. She loved to talk and she had great advice, and loved to make me laugh and laugh with me. One night when she spent the night at our house I laid down with her and we talked for a while, I can't remember what we talked about but when I got up she said, "thank you for laying with me and talking to me." I asked her not to thank me, if she only knew what I'd give to do it one more night.

Remember when Mom would go grocery shopping and we couldn't wait to raid the bags and eat everything in sight??? MMMMMM I want an empanada, she used to make them and send them to me. I miss you but I know you're with me, I feel you every day!

I remember when she would make me chorizo and scrambled eggs. She would get us things mommy would not. She would scratch my head to go to sleep.

I remember mom waking me up "lori, lori...let's go to the garage sales"! Then coming back and dad just shaking his head when we showed him what we got. Hey she was a great saleswoman too! She made lots of mula when she had her own sales. :)
