Shirley Wendt (nee Scherr) was born on July 7, 1947 as the third of seven children. She married her first love at the age of 20 years, and together they adopted and raised 4 children. She was a hard worker with a huge heart and was a wonderful cook. She loved her children, and her grandchildren more than anything and sacrificed much to make sure we had everything we needed. When she lost Joe in 2000, she held tightly to her family and her values to help her through, and eventually was able to find love again with Herb. In 2003 she left behind her home in Saskatchewan to retire with Herb in Langley BC where she made many new and wonderful friends. In October 2013 she was diagnosed with colon cancer, and though she fought long and hard, she succombed to it on January 19th, 2014. Shirley was an amazing woman with unbelievable strength and character. She had a heart of gold and was always worried about everyone else before herself, being selfless nearly to a fault. When you were hurting or feeling down she always had a kind word or smile for you, and gave the best advice, always leading you to do what was right in the end. She is predecessed by her parents John & Mary, and her first husband Joe.Shirley is survived by Herb, her husband, her siblings, her children & grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces nephews, cousins and friends.
